The Lagos State Police Command has launched the pursuit of a motorcyclist, who allegedly killed the vice president of the Nigerian Tricycle Owners and Operators Association (TOOAN) in Ejigbo, Oke Musbau.
The anonymous motorcyclist is said to have stabbed Musbau around 8:30 pm Friday in Iyana Ejigbo, during an altercation.
It was inferred that the motorcyclist was driving against traffic when he brushed against Musbau’s tricycle.
An argument soon ensued and the motorcyclist, said to be from the north, grabbed a knife and stabbed the tricyclist before fleeing the scene.
It was inferred that the motorcyclist’s action sparked an ethnic clash in the area, as the Yoruba youths went after what they perceived as Hausa, but the police quickly brought the situation under control.
The Nation deduced that Musbau, who was rushed to hospital, died while receiving treatment as a result of excessive blood loss.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the deceased was 55 years old.
He said: “The suspect has fled. We will arrest you with the help of your association. The PC has issued a march order to arrest him and has told the Commander, Area D Mushin, to ensure that adequate security is provided in the area to prevent any future incidents. “
