Ndidi’s Progressing Well But Will Not Play Against Liverpool – Leicester City Manager Rodgers

The Foxes coach has provided an update on the Nigerian international’s injury prior to their clash against the Reds.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that Wilfred Ndidi is recovering well from his groin injury but will not play a role when he takes on Liverpool on Sunday.

The Nigeria international suffered the injury during the Foxes’ victory over Burnley in September and has been out of games ever since.

Ndidi has only made two Premier League appearances for Leicester in the 2020-21 campaign, missing his last 10 matches.

The midfielder also did not participate in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Sierra Leone due to the injury problem.

Before his clash against the Reds, Rodgers explained that the 23-year-old will not participate in the game, but expressed his joy at the progress he is making with his recovery.

“Ricardo is training with the group, which is great news, and he will probably play in a reserve game next week. He’s progressing really well, ”Rodgers said at a pre-game press conference.

Wilf is in the field. He still has a few weeks to go, but he is progressing well. Soyüncu, in the same way, maybe a few weeks to go, but training with the team ”.

Ndidi has been a constant player for Leicester since joining the Belgian First Division A Genk club in 2017.

Ndidi has made more than 120 Premier League appearances for the Foxes since arriving at King Power Stadium.

Last season, the midfielder appeared in 32 league games, starting 29 of outings to help Leicester secure a ticket to the Europa League after finishing fourth.

Ndidi hopes to be fit ahead of the Foxes’ busy December schedule to help his team finish as high as possible in the first half of the season.

Leicester City are currently at the top of the Premier League table with 18 points from eight games and a win over Liverpool would help them extend their advantage in the division.
